Cristina H Melo was born in Lisbon, on June 20 1962. She lives and works in Lisbon.
She studied psychotherapy in the United Kingdom, namely in the area of compulsive disorders, and later pioneered the Minnesota method in Portugal, having founded the Clínica ERA - Empatia, Recuperação e Apoio, in Lisbon, where she worked for some years. In the late 90s she left the clinic and Portugal and traveled the world. During that journey, which was mainly that of reunion with herself, she started to draw, especially using geometric lines. She returned to Portugal in 2001 and attended the drawing course at Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, having decided to start dedicating herself to painting. In her latest works she increasingly uses photography as an experimental medium for a mixed technique in which she also works with collage and decides to take a professional photography course at Instituto Português de Fotografia in order to be able to develop her processes more consistently.
